Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are developed to automate, adapt and enhance vehicle systems for safety and better driving. While originally invented to reduce the risk of injuries during a crash, most new vehicles now include many of these systems to help avoid accidents altogether. In these instances, the driver is alerted to potential problems, or collisions are avoided entirely by implementing safeguards and, in some cases, assuming control of the vehicle.

In this free webinar, Warren Ahner, CEO of Righthook Inc (part of the HBK’s Virtual Test Division), explains how VI-grade’s offering includes a collaborative environment where vehicle simulation technology, state-of-the-art software solutions for control system design, traffic simulation, sensor fusion, and driving simulators are all seamlessly connected.

Key topics and takeaways:

  • How common sensors like cameras, radar, and lidar can be modelled together with the car into the traffic simulation environment to verify ADAS functions such as automated braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning
  • How the same sensors can be hardware tested at the sub-system and system level
  • How to extend the sensor test to the driving simulator via a sensor fusion test, so that ADAS functionalities can be thoroughly and safely evaluated and optimized in a lab environment before running any road tests, including driver reaction to the test parameters
